[IC] Chapter 2-5: You're whirling 'round...
Shanna's Con checks:
Thirst: Con: [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3, Con: [1d20+2] = 18+2 = 20, Con: [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19, Con: [1d20+2] = 13+2 = 15 1 failure
Hunger: Con: [1d20+2] = 8+2 = 10, Con: [1d20+2] = 5+2 = 7, Con: [1d20+2] = 5+2 = 7 2 failures.

Shanna's knees buckle slightly from the intense hunger, remembering the ants but, distracted by the growling in her bowels, not remembering where.  She has a look around using her arcane sight while whispering to the nearest companion:

"Has it...occurred to anyone that we are in the middle of a trap and this may just be another part of it?"

[[Perhaps a spinning trap  Rolleyes ]]

Spellcraft: [1d20+17] = 8+17 = 25

Int: [1d20+4] = 15+4 = 19

Hmmm, a very large trap?  Fascinating. Lugar thinks to himself, remaining quiet and hidden and suffering.
Neither the arcane expert nor the trap expert think that this would be a great big spinning trap. If it's some kind of trap then it's the nature of the place, i.e. the whole place is some kind of trap... or more likely, a ward.

Shanna's Arcane Sight doesn't reveal anything new. Apart from the party's equipment; the force cage; and the lingering aura of Torin's intended hop destination, nothing else radiates magic within range (120 feet.)
Ooc - Has everyone caught up to Lugar yet or are we in combat mode going round by round?

Lugar stays quiet and hidden, his stomach in knots and mouth parched. He looks around for any signs of vermin or sounds from Zelgadis to lead him in the right direction.
Toot will also give Boo a good berry (and will share water with him if the goodberry doesn't help with thirst).

"Me think we should leave then rest.  Magic healing not help so no way of healing without resting.  Mundane skill in healing might help with recovery."

[OoC: Toot is down to 38 from 58 hit points and Boo is down to 33 from 42. With so many ability checks with a high chance of failure, the damaging effects of the trap were pretty much unavoidable. So Toot wants out of this place until we can figure out how to cure the damage if we get hit by a similar trap. He does have a ring of sustenance that may protect Toot and Boo from the trap but of course there was no time to wait for the week it takes for the ring to start working.]
Once everyone is caught up with Lugar he will go to them.  "So I'm not the only one feeling this magic?"  He says while retrieving his waterskin.  "I agree with Toot, lets leave and maybe we will find Zelgadis on the way out." He guzzles the water letting it spill down his white-gray beard without a care.  "Ahhh, I could go for a barrel of ice-cold dwarven ale."  Hopefully we didn't just release something evil.  Zelgadis did talk about demons, Lugar thinks privately.
Very-very bad witchcraft, almost a curse.
What have you do with him? - he asks Torin
"Everyone should eat," Toot adds.  "Need strength back so not to get tired so fast.  Me have some goodberries but they not help with healing for weakness caused by this trap."
Torin casts the longstrider spell as the pursuit starts.

Thrist con1 [1d20+2] = 7+2 = 9 ; con2 [1d20+2] = 4+2 = 6 ; con3 [1d20+2] = 4+2 = 6 ; con4 [1d20+2] = 19+2 = 21

3 fails

Hunger con1 [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19 ; con2 [1d20+2] = 14+2 = 16 ; con3 [1d20+2] = 14+2 = 16

0 fail

If the party runs out of their water then Torin will casts a Create Water spell.

- Yeah lets out from here!
OOC - happy new year, catching up...

We left off when the party decided to go after the noise of something-- or someone-- crashing hard against something-- or someone.
Lugar took pursuit, immediately followed by Giant, Merri a bit behind, and the rest of the team (Torin, Shanna, Toot, Boo, and the pony) closing the ranks.
Everyone has been suddenly overcome by ravenous hunger and deadly thirst.
Shanna suffers 8+3 points of nonlethal damage and is fatigued.
Torin suffers 7 points of nonlethal damage and is fatigued.
Merri (rolled in her stand; three times failed for thirst) suffers 12 points of nonlethal damage and is fatigued.
((rest of the team already handled earlier))
Hunger has been partially satiated by Toot's enchanted berries and thirst was quenched with Torin's conjured water but the fatigue remains until next rest.
Those around the pony (Merri, Shanna, Torin, Toot) all realise that the pony doesn't seem to be the least bit affected by these ill effects.

Lugar then lost track of where could he hear the sounds from. South? East? Southeast? But maybe the best way is to go back the same way and leave this damned place behind which is northwest, then north, west, and back all the way to south, southeast, east to the exit.

OOC - to answer Lugar's question: all in sync on roll20 at the moment, so Lugar is not "ahead of time" or something.

Private to Merri
Merri remembers that there were the mantis in the next crossing, about 250feet from where Lugar and Giant stand now. The ants were right south of them.

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
