History of the Galactic Republic. Book 1

Death and Rebirth.  Quantum and Flux. The Cycle began with the first collision of Flux and Quantum to spark that first flicker of Psi.  The Psi that birthed the first thought that again shifted the Flux fields and drew in the ambient Quantum energies to power and shape the first soul.  A soul composed of Psi that could react and influence the fundamental forces of the universe.

Humanity was one of the first beings to gain consciousness in the universe.  Ages came and went, worlds shifted and changed as humanity gained the stars.  Lost them, regressed technologically on some worlds and advanced to beyond their own solar systems in others.  The fight for survival and the control of their own destiny played out again and again until finally all the worlds of humanity were united.

It was in this golden age, a group of human explorers and scientists finally discovered the three underlying forces in creation that brought them all into being.  Flux energy was generated from all motion and movement in the reality. It was the constant change from one state to the next, be it matter or energy of any sort. Quantum was the fundamental energies of the universe that were being pushed and pulled through creation into or away from one state or the next by Flux.  Lastly, there was Psi.  The fundamental energy that connected both Flux and Quantum. It was the energy that occured when Flux and Quantum interacted within the universe and there for Psi itself was interwoven into all existing reality.  This Psi is what gave rise to all sentient life.  Psi was consciousness. The energy that formed within living beings that gave them self-awareness and awareness of the universe itself.

Biologically though, conscious beings did not have the means to interact or even detect the very thing they were composed off.  Instead they learned to perceive and manipulate the energies that spawned Psi. And in time, most rising civilizations learned to naturally control Flux and eventually Quantum, unconsciously at first but then with purposeful and direct intent.  The first being that learned how to direct these energies and teach it, was referred to as the Queen of Magic.  (Amidala Corinth, Known in a later life as Amy Macfarlane.) Uncontrolled use spiraled out of control easily in those early days and many horrors were spawned. Though her teachings slowed the decline, eventually this gave rise to the beginning of the Aberrant delima. Conscious minds were soon warped by Flux and Quantum, shifting those energies into Corruption that cause reality to bend and twist in upon itself. It soon became like an inevitable wave of destruction, wiping out vast sections of the universe. The eternal war against Darkness had begun.

History of the Galactic Republic, Book 2.

The Aberrant plague had swept across the galaxy like a plague of nightmarish horror. Thousands of worlds fell, one by one as humans ascended and mutated from their natural quantum evolution. It was in this time that the greatest scientists began to realized that flux, or consciousness, influenced dark matter and dark energy to interact with stronger quantum forces.  Men as they evolved soon became heroes and gods because of their increased ability to manipulate Flux and Quantum. But then that same power, twisted them over the millennia into horrors beyond counting.  Entire worlds fought against this tide of darkness that swept across creation.  World after world fell. Some were completely destroyed, blasted into oblivion. Others worlds became nightmarish hellscapes, consumed by monsters and horrors that defied reality.

In this time, it was Seris Marvos who discovered the underlying energy that moved through creation and influenced both Flux and Quantum, but in harmony with the existing reality not against it.  This energy was named Psi, it seemed to be the underlying force that consciousness was a direct result of. What mattered is this energy existed in Harmony with the universe, and even had the capability to bring Flux and Quantum back into harmony once it was twisted away from its purpose. They were able to harness this energy in various ways that gave them a slight edge against Quantum fueled horrors that had begun to ravage the universe.

But the Quantum madness only grew and bit by bit, world by world began to fall into reality shifting darkness. Many things were tried, pods were seeded across the galaxy, entire worlds terraformed with the purpose of fostering psionic energy. Some were successes, some were not. Some of these worlds naturally repelled Aberrants, but they were few and far between.

It wasn't until Lady Arinna, (Who would one day be called Alice Dodgson) changed the basic genetic structure of humans and fortified them to be able to eventually utilize Psi the same way they utilized Flux and Quantum, did they finally see a way to end the Aberrant plague.  Not only that, working with Seris, she genetic altered humans to be able to handle Quantum and Flux energies more efficiently as well.  There was finally light at the end of this long war.

But it was too late.

The Fall of Avalon, the first Planet

Seris grit his teeth as blood trickled down his temple. His eyes were closed, but he could hear Thraxus laughing and laughing and laughing. How many had he killed to finally get in front of this monster.  His soldiers laughed with  him.  All of the Aberrants laughing at the great Federation Hero, the great Aberrant hunter brought low. Caught and defeated he kept eyes down. "So, I'm here. We made an agreement." Seris could barely keep his hands from shaking.

Thraxus raise an eyebrow and smirked, "We did and I kept it. You said you wanted your daughter back and here she is!" The monster turned and gestured to the bloody and beaten body of his daughter hanging from a torture rack.  Laughter aroze from this creature and his army.

This creature had destroyed a thousand worlds in Malfeas' name. Thraxus was the eldritch horrors herald, champion, and general. If Seris had been able to kill this fucker, it would have drawn Malfeas into the fray and this would at long last give Seris a chance to destroy the ancient and keep it asleep for another thousand years. Thraxus and his army had evaded every attempt to draw them out where Seris could find them. Every tactic, every bait, every strategy had been employed to draw out Thraxus from his fortresses and strike points.  Ignored it all Until Seris offered to give himself over in exchange for his daughter.  The fucker took the bait without any hesitation.

Thraxus made a sad face, "Are you going to threaten me now? Scream? Flail in fury? Curse me for all eternity?" The thing laughed and leaned forward with a low but confident voice. "We sadly know how to stop such things. You won't do much as we consume your soul but not before you watch us consume your childs."

Seris opened his eyes and easily sat up. He sighed, "You know, the trouble with you things, is that you assume there is something you will do or say that will shock us. You are so drunk on your own cruelty, that you always underestimate the capacity for your opponent to understand it."

Thraxus narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything.

Seris' lips curled into a snarl and growled, "I already knew you had killed my daughter."

Thraxus eyes grew wider as the situation dawned on him and he took two steps back.

Seris grinned through his snarl, "And if I knew that, Why do you think I let you capture me?"

Godslayer blasted through scores of Aberrants, the first one in line had been Thraxus. His afterimage still held in the space where he had been vaporized. Seris moved methodically through the battlefield disintegrating large numbers of the enemy hordes.  He could hear screams now, echoing over the battlefield, pleading for mercy as if the thought of mercy had ever occurred to these things when they were killing innocents.  He killed until nothing moved on the field. Still, he wanted more, needed more to sate his vengeance, "MALFEAS!!!!!  COME OUT AND FACE MEEE!"

Nothing.  Only silence answered him. The silence of a now dead world.

The Last Man on Avalon

Seris felt himself drop to his knees and he let out a long sobbing breath. His little girl had died before he had ever made it to the planet. Arinna had arrived just after he had, and it didn't take long for the both of them to sense the truth. Their parental instincts just knew, Their daughter was gone. Eventually their spies and reconnaissance allowed them to learn that their daughter was being preserved like a trophy by one of these monsters. He put out the word that the great general and Aberrant hunter had come to save his daughter and that he would trade himself for her safe return. How could the beasts not use this as a chance to kill one of their most hated foes.

For a long while Seris knelt in silence. The winds of Avalon began to blow a bit harder and dark clouds blew in from the east. Seris caught the scent of his wife on the cool breeze and he stood up. Arinna was standing a bit away, waiting for him. It was an odd feeling, that he knew his wife shared. The feeling of absolutely solitude.  They were the last two living human beings on the planet. The planet that gave birth to their species.  The melancholy of the sensation was almost overwhelming mixed with the death of their daughter.  They had ten children over the millennia. Not nearly as many as most give their virtual Immortality, but they loved, nurtured and cared deeply for each and every one of them. Helena had been their youngest and last child, one they thought safe on their home world.  Thought safe has her mother and father raged countless battles across a falling universe. They never thought the homeworld would fall, but then, they never thought they would bury one of their children, much less all of them. When they finally left Avalon, both of them knew, that they carried the last vestige of humanity with them.
