Well, I'm going to suggest 2nd level. That way we have a little bit of experience behind us for our background and 1st level can be so squishy!

in 5e though the level advancment fro L1 to level 3 is REAKLLY fast.. not like earlier editions

I'm good with starting at 2, cuase that will allow me to start with a good start towards all the class flavor of my planed build.
