RE: The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One) - Arius Dezlentyr - 12-10-2023 Arius steps forward offering a bow and a flourish of his hat, in the noble fashion of Waterdeep, and says"I am Arius Dezlentyr of Waterdeep and I am pleased of you joining us as one of a sturdy continuance! RE: The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One) - Nightingale - 01-13-2024 "You can call me Nightingale." the half elf offered. "And if you're in a state to, we should continue moving. I feel there's worse vermin than rats down here." RE: The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One) - DM Spiral - 09-01-2024 ---Everyone--- With introductions out of the way, the group put their attention back onto the task at hand. They moved down through the tunnels until the old worn path turned upward again. Then they wound around what seemed like a fallen tower until they came to where they could see the last descent of the narrow crumbling stair they had left coming down into what looked like a courtyard. The Courtyard, apparently the top of what was once a crenelated battlement, which had been part of the castle, was now so far sunk into the earth that the battlement was level with the surrounding floor. That floor stretches away to the north and south, composed of a layer of treacherous, crumbling masonry, which reaches to an unknown depth. To the west looms the surviving structure of what must be the Sunless Citadel. A Fortress emerging from the darkness. The subterranean citadel, though impressive, seemed long forgotten, if the lightless windows, cracked crenelations, and leaning towers are any indication. All is quiet, though a cold breeze blows up from below, bringing with it the scent of dust and a faint trace of decay. (DM - Everyone make Perception check. The Battlemap on Roll20 is now live. You guys see the door in front of you.) RE: The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One) - Kriv Turnuroth - 09-01-2024 Kriv follows along behind the others lost in thought as he marvels at the sunken castle and it's architecture. Perception 1d20+3=6 RE: The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One) - Athos Blackwind - 09-01-2024 Athos walks up to see the strange sight of the sunken fortress. It seemed imposing in its own right even though it had fallen so low. But it was time to enter this place, so he scanned the area for any traps or ambushes. Perception Check: 1d20+6 = 25 RE: The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One) - Nightingale - 09-01-2024 Nightingale moves up silently, her eyes scanning this fallen citadel with unease and wariness. Was it just goblins down here, or something more sinister? Either way, the place could be unstable or rigged to alert anyone inside or who knows what else, so she kept her eyes peeled for signs of danger. Perception: 1d20+4 17 RE: The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One) - DM Spiral - 09-02-2024 ---Everyone--- As the group moves forward, Athos suddenly stops, glaring at the courtyard, then Nightingale follows suit immediately after him. Both notice the stones right before the door look to have been freshly disturbed, at least in the scheme of things. Regardless, the spot is an obvious trap. RE: The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One) - Athos Blackwind - 09-02-2024 Athos pulls to an immediate halt and holds up his arm, "Trap!" He takes just a few steps forward to inspect the trap and be sure of where it started and ended. Then he glanced over to Nightingale, "You got this? Or do we need to find a way around it?" RE: The Sunless Citadel - (Chapter One) - Nightingale - 09-04-2024 "Give me a moment." she says as she pads quietly and carefully towards the door, testing each step before putting her full weight on it. Crouching down close to the ground, Nightingale is looking to see exactly what has happened here. Is it a pit trap, is the rubble hiding wires that lead to an alarm or something more deadly, or something else? If she can determine what kind of trap this is, then she can try and figure out the best way to disable it.
