RE: Chapter 1-2: Tunnels of Hate - Silent Giant - 01-26-2016

Is there only one iron door or four doors? Is there one door on each side of the block?

RE: Chapter 1-2: Tunnels of Hate - DM Surranó - 01-26-2016

Only one door on the west side.
For Lugar to approach he has to submerge completely (five feet deep at least)
There are no apparent holes and the door is heavily bolted. Breaking it down by sheer strength sounds like an incredible effort. Age may be indeed that makes it possible if possible at all.

Grhh, we have to examine it underwater.

He goes down again and again searching (touching) the wall of the block around underwater.

RE: Chapter 1-2: Tunnels of Hate - Lugar - 01-27-2016

"Merri, bring your torch closer to the door." Lugar holds his breath and tries to examine the door to see what's keeping it shut. He looks for a lock, corrosion, or rubble barring the door. If he and Giant can't find anything here he will suggest searching around the wall for a weak spot.

RE: Chapter 1-2: Tunnels of Hate - DM Surranó - 01-27-2016

Merri dips the torch underwater to aid the dwarven master.

It's clearly a strong door. No rubble, only the robustness of the door, the heavy bolts and the mass of water against it that keep it shut. There's also a lock on the door that seems to be a significant challenge. Luckily Lugar can spend sufficient time underwater to try and open it. After several minutes of trying and prying though, Lugar has to admit that this lock is beyond his skill level.

RE: Chapter 1-2: Tunnels of Hate - Lugar - 01-27-2016

OOC - I'm assuming even with his lock pick set, left in the kitchen, he can't pick this lock.

After attempting for some time to pick this lock Lugar surfaces from the water, out of breath and frustrated.

"The good news.... I can pick this lock.... After about five years and pumping this water out..." He says between deep breaths. "We will have to... Find the damn key... Or..." Lugar stops as he formalizes another idea. "With the disrepair of this place, there might be a cave in through the courtyard, or a tunnel underneath the water."

RE: Chapter 1-2: Tunnels of Hate - DM Surranó - 01-27-2016

OOC - I calculated with +9 in your sig. Take 20 means 29 which isn't high enough for this particular lock in these circumstances.

Lugar will search around the wall for possible weak spots to mine through or tunnels under the water leading to the room.

take20

ooc - detect magic? detect secret doors? disintegrate? :-)

There seem to be no weak spots and the only way in could very well be that door.
