Happs nods and disappears down the slight decline. After about 5 minutes, he returns with a grim look and beckons with his hand, while keeping a finger pressed to his lips with the other. Then he slips back down the hallway. Anyone who follows hears the sound of tormented shrieking that seems to grow in volume the further they travel.

Nona waits impatiently for him to return.  These tunnels didn't seem that extensive.  What could be taking so long?  Her familiar has low-light vision and Scent, so through their empathic link she directs her familiar, if something is close then come back to her.  She then gives him a treat of a piece of candy.

When Happs returns she whispers, "What took so long?"  She waves the question away but planned to return to the conversation later, when they were out of this place.

Nex then tippy-toes to the entranceway of the next room.  She hoped that whatever she lacked in grace would be muffled by their tormented shrieking and distance.

Happs holds a finger up to his lips. He then holds up 6 fingers to indicate the number of potential enemies in the next cavern, but something clearly has him agitated. The silence is punctuated by the occasional scream of apparent pain...followed closely by what you can now make out as...snickers. Someone is clearly being tortured, and the being or beings doing so are clearly having a good time with it.
