Whatever wooden object is found is either warped or too bulky to be used as a lever but Giant's double axe and his strength added to Lugar's own are probably sufficient.

Lugar and Giant turn the cauldron back to its feet without significant effort. Below, it is now clearly visible that the ring is the handle of a trapdoor. If this was a kitchen then it must be a pantry or cellar door.
