[OoC: It's no problem. I honestly like to know if I'm remembering the rules properly. But I do use certain rules from 3.0 and Pathfinder, anyways. I use whatever makes sense to me. So I would have continued using the diagonal distance as 5' then 10'. Giving you a heads up, I also like to use the 3.0 cover rules because I don't like the dumbed down version in 3.5e. If a dragon is hiding under the water with just enough of its head to poke its eyes out then he's getting the benefits of 9/10ths cover for hiding (or +10 hide bonus). There are rules for this in 3.5e but they describe it as "Improved Cover" but don't go into any detail what exactly qualifies as Improved Cover. At least not in the SRD.]
