[IC] Chapter 2-4: You Hear Them Whispering in the Crowns of the Trees
Toot had hoped the group would seek caution instead of stupidity but apparently he expected too much.  "Yous do know that the Dragon could return at any moment?  This has already proved to be a good feeding ground for the dragon and he's likely to come back the moment he feels peckish."

OOC - the characters won't recognise without ranks in Knowledge (nature) (because it's DC15) but the players will probably recognise based on the description.

If they insist on exploring, Toot decides to remain concealed in the hopes the dragon would over look him and eat a bigger target like the gnome or the gnome's friend, the dwarf.

[OoC: Toot has Knowledge Nature 13.  So he can only fail on a 1.  [Famous last words, I know... Confused  ] Rolled a 28!  Big Grin ]

Giant draws closer and checks the bloody scene. There are several corpses half-devoured similar to the one on the path leading here, but even more ripped apart like a ragdoll caught within the grasp of an undisciplined orc kid. Some of them have stains of some strange, fluorescent slime on them. The corpse Torin noticed looks like part human, part animal. The bum and legs are covered by auburn hair and the cloven hooves resemble the ranger to some kind of deer or, more likely, goat, considering the pair of black horns adorning the man's head. He wears 3/4 studded leather that protected half his legs and arms, at least until it was ripped apart. He apparently died of a horrid gash through the armour that opened up his torso from belly button through the ribcage to the throat.

Toot can't see much from concealment (OOC - by the term "the characters" I meant those that draw closer but assuming they will share their observations Toot will of course recognise the creature, esp. because I grant fey, druids, and rangers +2 competence bonus on this check Smile )

He shakes his head. He doesn't want to be here for a long time so he quickly looks around. Is there any usable (mw) weapon, bow, bag, etc.? (ooc - Torin, DM?)

By the looks, everything is torn apart, his wool satchel is drenched with blood, a broken set of reed pipes scattered around. A few feet away lies a leather belt, also ripped from the torso, but has no pouches or scabbards on it. There are no signs of a missile weapon, quiver or bolt case.

He picks up the leather belt and goes back. He tells everything to others and shows the belt.

It's time to leave.

Portho mimicks Cranberry's elderly, crackled voice.
"If the lives of animals are threatened then it's not necessarily your fight."
Then continues on his own.
"I also feel uneasy here. Better sprites than dragons."
He takes a step towards the path leading back down and looks back at the party expectantly.

Yeah, but if we can then we should do something to stop the butcher. - says the ranger and follows Portho - You should convince them to help us.

"I agree with you, Giant, but without the rest of the team's consent, it would likely be a fruitless battle."

- "We should go back to speak with CB and after that we could do a better decision!"

Toot will of course take a closer look at the bodies to identify them once he's sure nothing will jump out at him.

When the others start saying they should return, Toot says, "Finally!  You listen to reason!  Even if the little shit doesn't want to help us, we might be able to stay the night to update our spells."

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
