Akiko could not cut it in school like her twin sister Hikaru.  Eventually she dropped out and found herself embroiled in the street-life of Japan.  What she did not learn in school she learned in the harsh streets, like drugs, guns, and dating.  While her sister excelled in school and in her Nindo training, Akiko fell behind.  She got sucked into the gang world, eventually getting caught up in a rival gang war where she lost her legs and left arm in a botched bombing.  Life seemed over for her and in the midst of depression a stranger came to her.  He worked for one of the big Corporations, he had seen her play the clarinet in school because his daughter also attended her school, and he offered her a new chance at life if she worked for him.  Akiko accepted his offer on the spot.  With new enhanced legs and a new cyber-arm she followed in similar footsteps as her sister, she became a hired gun working for the Corporation.  With training and experience she honed her skills and became deadly with handguns.  The money flowed in and she continued to upgrade her cyber-ware to stay on top of the competition.  Akiko always looked up to her sister, she was magnificent, she mastered Nindo techniques without the need of cyber-tech.  Hikaru was someone to look up to, so when her sister moved to the U.S. Akiko followed her, the ever present backup to a skilled hand to hand Ninja.

Jack Ibanez was born in and grew up in Madrid, Spain to a pair of aeronautical engineers for a regional Euro Space Agency. He grew up a relatively privileged life for most of his early child hood until a family tragedy in his late teens resulted him being orphaned and adopted as a ward of the ESA. He trained as corporate cop for ESA and earned high marks. Despite his accomplishments and skill at reading people, an unfortunate conflict leading to the maiming of his then girlfriend’s esteemed government relative resulted in him having to flee the European territory. After spending the majority of his savings to get safe passage to the Night City he began a private business at tracking down acquired corporate assets or rooting out those who would be looking for other employment. So far his business has been sustainable, but not lucrative. Local fixers and low level corps have dubbed him “The Hound” as he is tenacious in tracking his current contract.

A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net).
