[IC] Chapter 1-10: Crypt of Hate
#61
Torin casts a DM and examines everything.
#62
Since Torin also examined the circle he notices that the circlet has a very similar magic component; the overwhelming aura contains components from several schools, some so strong that Torin can't make out the school (OOC - sorry, rolled a grand total of 6 with 3d20...) but he's positive it's somehow tied to the circle.
The cloak is the second of the most interesting items. Its strongest aura is transmutation.
There are three more items which seem to be relatively mundane pieces of arcane arts:
- a wand (faint transmutation)
- a vial containing a waterlike liquid (strong transmutation)
- a battle axe hidden beneath the cloak (moderate transmutation)

PRIVATE TO PORTHO
Portho recognises the axe as Pearl's "Drow Cleaver"
#63
ooc - One of us should try the cloak and circlet on Wink

Torin, Portho and Murkatos immediately notice that the repeating pattern contains the symbols of many schools of magic: transmutation; conjuration; enchantment; and universal. What may it stand for????

"I can't believe I didn't see that earlier. How could I have failed to recognise him? The vampire, he was the priest who was a member of the party that I entered the sewers of Waterdeep with. He betrayed us, but I do not know why he spared me and left me for spider food."

"The axe belonged to our warrior, Pearl. Let me quickly examin teh other items."

Circlet Bardic Knowledge [1d20+11] = 13+11 = 24
Cloak Bardic Knowledge [1d20+11] = 18+11 = 29
Wand Bardic Knowledge [1d20+11] = 8+11 = 19
Vial of Liquid Bardic Knowledge [1d20+11] = 15+11 = 26
Battle Axe Bardic Knowledge [1d20+11] = 13+11 = 24]

The circlet does not appear in any stories Portho has ever heard but the design and the intricate inscribings on the inside remind him of a long lost empire of magic; somehow an evil necromancer pops into his mind but he cannot recall the details of the story, nor the names of people or places.

The cloak strikes him as an old acquaintance from a prehistoric legend. It is called the Turncoat of Creation. Aside from the symbols of the arcane schools there are fine illustrations of a smaller humanoid figure controlling a larger one; and the larger one some emitting a cloud that in turn engulfs prone (dead?) people. Legends say whoever equips such a cloak may act as the creator in the eyes of many constructs and this one seems to be fashioned to iron golems.

The wand seems just like that-- an ordinary arcane wand with the inscription "Gratiam Celeritatis"

Without removing the stopper it's hard to tell what the vial is for but the liquid's ethereal substance, almost as thin as mist, must be some potent chemical reagent. A strong acid or adhesive maybe?

The battle axe is of intricate, masterwork design, made of pure mithril to reduce weight, and the blade has an insidious, malevolent shape tearing up the opponent's flesh even on a bruising hit. The word "Cleaver" is written in drow on the blade and the head is decorated with a spider sitting in the middle of a spiderweb on either side.

OOC - Pearl was a paladin, just in case it matters Smile

- Portho, could you sum up to the others what you know about your previous team? The stands come together. You know I already said that a vampire killed they.

Uh, an axe. Let me see..... Hm, good, good, but too small.

Time passes....

OOC - In 24 hours, the NPCs take action, seizing all the glory from your hands. This is the last time to earn a great personal XP reward before the end of the chapter!

OOC - I suppose Portho told us everything about items.

Giant cuts the vampire into six pieces as we mentioned before. He breaks the unnecessary part of the stick.

Come on boys, we are in hurry. If nobody wants to controll the iron construct I am ready to do it. I have a few acrobatic movements for him, he-he.

OOC - Maybe we should switch to hungarian Big GrinBig Grin
OOC - I was waiting for Portho. I assume that he told everything which he knows.

- Give me that cloack. I will try it. - Torin pick up the clock and try to use it. It works or there must be use some command words, ...

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
