"I may also move it within the confines of its area of effect, which is about five, ten foot cubes. So I could also create some guards to jump out when you ambush them to help cause some confusion."
"A very good idea, the illusion could serve dual purpose, hide the bear-trap, and cause immense confusion giving Vidar and I time to seal the gate.""

We will likely be facing more than just one battle." Turning to Oleg, Nexendia asks, "How long do they usually stay? It sounds like they only stay long enough to collect their 'taxes' and then leave. If as you say, they arrive within an hour of sunrise then likely their fellows will be expecting them to return by noon, at the latest? Therefore we could be seeing their reinforcements arriving not too long afterward."
"A good reason to check those catapults and also conserve some of our resources."
Valdi immediately turns his attention to the gates, beginning to assess what needs to be done to get them ready to be closed quickly. He doesn't seem concerned with his brother's ideas about counterweights and ropes, for now. he just wants to make sure that they can be quickly shut and barred by a single man pushing from behind each.
"Ropes and pulleys sound great brother, but time is of the essence, let's make sure the gates work first."
