[IC] SOLO - Portho's Adventure
#21
As he approaches the dim peripheral light of the everburning torch reveals a shiny black bulbous body at the southwest corner. Thanks to his low light vision the gnome immediately recognises the owner of the icky stuff all around-- a monstrous spider, the size of a horse!

Not wanting to risk the spider disable him instantly with a lucky bite, Portho caats Mirror Image , suddenly surrounding himself with 5 exact duplicates.

With his move action he drops his continual flame torch and readies his shield.

[Note: drawing a shield is a move action if it's within easy access. Strapping a shield properly to your arm is another one and common sense dictates you need both hands to do so. However, you could do the same maneuver if you wielded the everburning torch in your weapon hand, shield worn-- drawing and readying a weapon takes only one move action. For now let's assume that you have rapier and shield equipped and torch dropped.]

The spider moves in for a vicous bite but finds one of the figments only which disappears with colourful sparks.

[4 images remain. Your turn.]

Portho lunges at the foul creature with his rapier.

[Rolled in Roll20: 1d20+7 Portho attacks with his rapier (12)+7= 19 | rolling 1d4+1 Rapier damage (2)+1= 3]

Portho pierces the tough chitin coating with a satisfactory "pop" and the monstrous vermin hisses in anger. Its ferocious counterattack makes no contact; what's more its underbelly gets above Portho's head, effectively inviting to a devastating thrust.

[OOC - that was a natural 1 on the spider's behalf Wink ]

Emboldened by the creature's clumsy attack Portho thrusts his rapier up into its soft underbelly, but in his eagerness doesn't carry the thrust through enough to inflict much damage.

[ rolling d20+7 rapier attack (7)+7= 14 | d4+1 rapier damage(1)+1 = 2]

The lucky gnome's fine chain mail blocks the angry spider's next attack.

Feeling somewhat confident in both the fact that he is yet protected by four illusory doubles and his armour, Portho decides to press his attack, thrusting up at the creature.

[From Roll20: Portho Nihilbuck: rolling 1d20+7 rapier attack (15)+7= 22 | rolling 1d4+1 rapier damage (3)+1= 4]

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
