[IC] New Crobuzon & the World Beyond
[OoC: Ummm... Survival and Spot checks, please?]
Quote this message in a reply
Spot: [1d20+5] = 13+5 = 18, Survival: [1d20+5] = 10+5 = 15

Selina will move a couple steps closer, crossbow loaded, set and ready to loose.

Spot [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20; Survival [1d20+1] = 12+1 = 13

Her crossbow already out, Betimi moves closer to the nearest body.

Ningalu flutters along, crossbow also readied, just behind Betimi (above Tomreal)

Spot [1d20+5] = 16+5 = 21; Survival [1d20] = 9

Selina notices that the Vegetation seems to have been cut away sometime in within the last week.  It looks like these people arrived not too long ago.  Ning notices some movement between the tangle of vines and leaves around 40' away.

The closest body appears to be a green-skinned orc around 20' to the north east.  Anyone with Low Light vision can see fairly easily that he's laying on his side, in armor, with a Falchion laying beside him.  When you moved a bit closer everyone can see the body of someone else 5' NW of the orc, covered in a cloak with their longsword still in hand; And still another body of a woman wearing minimal leather armor is to the NE of the orc and she is holding a hilt but the weapon is hidden beneath some large leaves.

Ning fires a shot from his crossbow to where he saw movement. Not actually expecting to hit the creature, but to maybe flush it from cover.  "There!" he yells as the crossbow bolt is on it's way. Then reloads

crossbow [1d20+7] = 17+7 = 24; Miss chance [1d100] = 1; Damage [1d6] = 1 [lol miss chance 1%  not even close]

Betimi moves up to the body of the orc. Relying on the cover provided by the others she deliberately aims a throwing scarab at the orc body, holding off from throwing the shard while she turns the body over with the toe of her boot.

While Betimi and Ning/Nang continue to investigate the bodies, Selina focus is on their surroundings. The vegetation had been cut recently, probably by the beings who were now apparently dead and she aims to know what specifically killed them. She knew that if one or more of those 'mind vulture' creatures were present, it was likely they killed each other.

Spot: [1d20+5] = 12+5 = 17

Nang shares his blindsight with his brother so there's no concealment.  Unfortunately the bolt just knicks one of its legs, not causing enough damage to kill it.

By look and smell, the Orc has been dead for 3 or 4 days.  Betimi notices many tiny bite holes around the edges of the Orc's armor where something small has been chewing at the flesh of his arm and side of his face, exposing the bones and teeth underneath.  Betimi pushes the big Orc over onto his back. There's many small stab wounds in his chest, slashes across his arms and a particularly nasty gaping wound on the side of his neck.  There's also multiple, similar in size, circular bruises in flesh and dents in his armor, likely from some spell.   The others all have similar wounds.  Selina is very sure they slaughtered each other and then the critters flew down to feast on the remains.  But fresh is always best.  So they attacked Ning when the opportunity presented itself.

[OoC can Betimi see which square the creature is in? How far is it from her?]

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
