[IC] Chapter 2-4: You Hear Them Whispering in the Crowns of the Trees
While Toot is away to stare at the dark pool of the lake Cranberry approaches.

"So what are your plans for the coming hours?"

Toot frowns at the pool.  "Sonofa..." he mutters to himself.  He wonders if he should try again tomorrow or if he should wait until he can learn more about the dragon to increase his chances at succeeding.  Toot strolls back to the others to get their opinion on the matter.

Shanna notices Toot arriving, looking none too happy about things.  Then again, she'd never before met one of his kind, so she had no basis for comparison.  She turns to face him.  "Any news on our draconic friend?"

Toot shakes his head in frustration.  With Boo's help, he climbs back into his exotic bear saddle then says, "Creature is powerful and highly resistant to magics.  Including Divination.  Me wish me could commune with nature then his resistance would not matter.  Soon will be able but not now.  Should me try again in the morn or wait to try to gain more of a connection to the creature?"

"Yes, do it again if you can, I sooo wanna see this!" a familiar voice calls out, agitated, from one of the paths that enter the clearing the party is located.

The voice belongs to Portho, but a tad less clear and ringing as usual, maybe because because of the pipe he puffs gleefully; a trait none of the company has ever witnessed before. The smoke has a rich, spicy sweet scent of herbs. Cranberry shoots a scornful look at him but then nods,
"Rest now. We don't mind hosting you for several days but don't just sit here, idle. My offer for a guide to escort you to his lair's entrance is still valid, though you should find the way pretty easily. Take this," she hands one of you a feather, easily identified by Toot as a swan's tail feather (rectrix - helmsman) "it turns into a convenient boat if thrown into a sufficiently large pool of water."

"Or any other liquid, for that matter," Portho adds helpfully.
Cranberry frowns and nods.
"I'm afraid the waterfall would sink it though so you must find another way to cross it."

With that, she leaves the way Portho came, muttering something to the gnome as she passes. Portho sends another cheerful grin towards Toot then turns and follows Cranberry, giggling.

OOC - let's pretend you are all through rest. I assume you have food for yourselves?

Merri tends to her own needs and catches up on rest while she can. She never had much interest or talent in divination and had no help to offer at this point.

If they have more wine we can stay and rest more but somebody said something about time. But I can't remember. Aren't we in hurry?

That's a good point. Let's drink they will say if we start!

Toot will go to sleep with Boo.  He could hardly wait for his ring to kick in so he could do less time sleeping and more time eating.

In the morning Toot will let the party know he was going to attempt to cast the Scry once more.  He didn't have a lot of hope of the spell succeeding against a creature as powerful as a Dragon but perhaps luck might be with him, for once.

The fey provided a convenient amount of drinks for the meal before resting. The next meal, call it a breakfast though it's still dusk, is not offered unless asked for specifically.
Toot goes off on another scry and... (should I roll SR for you do you feel the power of divine favour in Unseenservant this time?)

ABOUT US
A gaming group started in late 2005 when several members (from all over the world) came together on a long-running forum website called Plothook.net (formally known as Highmoon.net). Several games transformed from a by-the-book format to highly modified versions that became new hybrid systems with completely custom rules and abilities. Ten years later, these faithful players wanted to secure their work and their stories, becoming the basis of these forums.
