[[Lol! Sorry. Completely forgot to complete that post, then got bogged down in a few IRL things and completely forgot about it altogether.]]
Selina nods to Ningalu and wraps a gauntleted hand around her symbol, praying to Selune to protect her and her many allies. A softly-glowing nimbus blooms from her, covering everyone in a bluish-white glow.
[[Pretty sure her checks are automatic with Protection from Chaos up. Mass Conviction. +3 morale bonus to saving throws for everyone. At her current level, lasts for an hour.]]

While Selina is casting her spells, Tomeal peeks over side of the stairs into the pit. Grotesque cracking noises can still be heard emanating from deep within darkness. He turns his attention back to the party and whispers, "I don't like it. We're sitting ducks up here. We should get off these stairs. If those sounds are an enemy I'd rather face them on solid ground than on a staircase where we could fall an unknown distance."

You all begin to make your way down the stairs. The deeper your travel the more the damp chill seems to creep into your bones. The magical darkness sudden relents allowing the group to finally see to their light or darkvision limits. You see maybe 20' below you is the end of the staircase. The ground looks like rough stone. The noises you heard earlier have suddenly stopped.

Selina narrows her eyes as she glances suspiciously around the area her little locket shines on. She had never trusted any part of this place to begin with, but there was definitely something distinctly...wrong about this particular area.
"Simon. What do your readings show?"

Simon looks at the reading from his gadget and replies, "The energy is stronger here. We must be getting fairly close to our objective."
Tomeal whispers, "It's doubtful whatever was making that noise suddenly wandered off."
Looking more closely at ground below, none of you see anything but rock. You do notice several irregularly shaped circular darker spots on the stone floor that with your light seem to glisten like the spots are wet.
